GCSE Media Specification - WJEC

This links you to the GCSE Specification: http://www.wjec.co.uk/uploads/publications/3747.pdf

The course is 50% exam and 50% coursework.

You will be sitting the exam in 2009, so your exam topics are:
Section A Animated Film.
Section B News in print and electronic media.

Your coursework is in three parts:

Textual Analysis
This piece must be designed to allow candidates to demonstrate their ability to deconstruct and compare media texts. Candidates can either compare texts from the past (historical texts) or they can compare contemporary and historical texts. (They cannot compare contemporary texts.)

Pre-production
This piece will focus on planning techniques and will allow candidates to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of media practices. The piece will be accompanied by an evaluative report.

Production
This piece may either be independent of or grow out of the candidate's pre-production work and will require the production of a media artefact and an accompanying evaluative report.
